In terms of size and population, Asia is by far the largest and most diverse continent. More so, the ancient civilizations of this beautiful land are some of the oldest and most amazing in the world. Filled with stunning architecture, national parks, and cities, there is truly something for everybody in this unique part of the globe.
If you are considering visiting Asia, there are a number of places that I think you should definitely see. From the skyscrapers of Hong Kong to the majestic slopes of Mount Fuji - you are sure to have the trip of a lifetime while discovering all of these beautiful places. Here are some of my favorites.
Mount Fuji, Japan
Mount Fuji is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia. This active stratovolcano hasn't erupted since 1708 and forms part of Japan's 'Three Holy Mountains'. These three landforms are thought to hold special powers - in the case of Mount Fuji, the power is volcanic.
On top of this, the base of the volcano is home to Japan's 'Suicide Forest'. This forest is known for its feeling of solitude and exclusion, earning it the ominous name. Mount Fuji is a well-known symbol of Japan, and millions of tourists all over the world visit the volcano.
With four trails to the peak, you will be sure to see plenty of shrines, historical monuments, and tea houses along the way. More so, if you plan your trip during the right time of year, you may even get to see the stunning Cherry Blossoms that are often associated with this beautiful volcano.
Dead Sea, Israel
The dark blue waters of the Dead Sea can be found off the coast of Jordan and Israel. Many people do not realize that this water body is actually a lake (thanks to the confusing name). However, what makes the Dead Sea so unique is the fact that it sits at the lowest elevation on Earth.
The water also has a very high salt content, meaning that nothing can physically sink while in the lake. To be more specific, the Dead Sea is ten times saltier than the ocean, with a concentration of around 31 percent.
The coastline around the lake has become an incredibly popular tourist destination. For many people, the Dead Sea is actually a religious symbol. For this reason, the shore boasts some of the oldest settlements in the world.
Phuket, Thailand
Phuket is the largest island in Thailand. For this reason, it is a tourist magnet, attracting millions of individuals every single year. With soft, rolling beaches and crystal clear water, this island is an excellent choice for anybody that loves the ocean.
Lined with sleepy villages and ancient buildings, there is also something for those of you who appreciate history. More so, there are thousands of stunning snorkeling and fishing sites for you to choose from. You could even hire a guide to go kayaking or island hopping.
Phuket is home to a number of the land's festivals. For example, the Ghost Festival takes place once a year in order to worship ancestors. During this ceremony, the people release hundreds of lanterns into the night sky, creating a beautiful sight that you will never forget.
Beijing, China
Beijing is one of the most populated cities in the world. It is one of the oldest. By walking around the streets of Beijing, you will get to see the small alleyways, traditional houses, and courtyards that the city is famous for.
The capital is also home to seven World Heritage Sites, such as the Forbidden City, Imperial Summer Palace, and multiple sections of the Great Wall Of China. So if you are a traveler who appreciates history and all it has to offer, Beijing is the perfect destination for you.
There are several fantastic art museums for you to check out while exploring the area. The National Art Museum of China includes a massive collection of some of the world's most extensive and expensive pieces. However, simply taking a stroll down the historic streets is also a great way to spend your time in the city.
Hoi An, Vietnam
Most tourists who visit Vietnam spend their time in the big cities, such as Hanoi. However, arguably the most beautiful area in the country is actually a well-guarded secret. Hoi An is an ancient city that plays home to Asia's oldest trading port. It also includes a World Heritage Site and features a lantern festival after every full moon cycle.
If you are the type of traveler who can appreciate unique architecture, Hoi An is definitely the place for you. Almost every single building in this ancient city still maintains much of its original architecture, meaning that you will still find traditional French-colonial shutters and tiled Chinese roofs.
Filled with some of the oldest museums and art galleries, you will have plenty to see and do while in the city. You can even discover the 17th century Japanese Bridge and the Old House of Tan Ky, an 18th-century merchant house.
Hong Kong, China
Hong Kong is a small island that is home to more than 7 million people. In fact, it is the third most densely populated area in the world. However, the city still features plenty of historical buildings that you will be able to explore while on your trip to the area.
With the largest number of skyscrapers in the world (355), there is plenty to see for those of you who appreciate architecture. However, you should also visit Victoria Harbour, as it has one of the most stunning coastal skylines you will ever see.
If you would like to get a good view of the city, you can even climb to the top of Victoria Peak - this is the highest hill in HK and features both a leisure and shopping complex. On top of this, the city includes numerous theme and amusement parks that make it perfect for the little ones.
Siem Reap, Cambodia
Siem Reap is one of the most traditional and spiritual areas in Asia. It is better known as being the gateway to the Angkor region and features hundreds of temples left behind by ancient civilizations. Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world - in fact, it covers over 160 hectares of land.
Siem Reap includes a mixture of traditional Chinese and French colonial architecture. You will be able to visit great cafes in between your different trips to the numerous temples. More so, you should definitely take the time to explore the Cambodia Landmine Museum and Relief Center.
If you would like to learn more about Angkor Wat, you can even spend a few hours in the Angkor Museum before embarking on your tour. This area is definitely for those tourists who appreciate good history and exploring the different religions and cultures.
Singapore
Even though Singapore only gained independence during the mid-1900s, it has become one of the wealthiest countries in the world. More so, it is by far one of the most fun places to visit in the whole of Asia.
Though the country only features three beaches, there are plenty of themed attractions that you can choose from. For example, there are numerous lush green forests that you can explore. More so, Singapore is home to some of the most beautiful hiking trails in the world.
From a Universal Studios theme park to a bungee jump tower over the capital city - there is truly something for everybody. Of course, you could also visit the largest greenhouse in the world or the Marina Bay Sands resort. This resort features an infinity pool and sky bridge, making it a thrilling destination for anybody.
Kingdom Of Bhutan
Bhutan is surrounded by the Himalayas and parts of India. This land-locked country features steep cliffs, stunning valleys, thousands of rivers, and the world's tallest unclimbed mountain. In fact, some of the country's most beautiful views can be seen from these high points.
For example, Tiger's Nest Monastery is located 3000m up the mountain and can only be reached after completing a grueling hike. However, once you do reach the destination, all the hard work will have been worth it. With some of the best views in the world, you will be planning your second trip before you even depart.
In order to maintain the biodiversity and natural beauty, free travel into the country is not allowed. For this reason, tourists will need to book a pre-planned trip that is organized by an operator. While this may seem like a mission, it also ensures that you will not struggle with thousands of tourists while in the country.
Kathmandu, Nepal
Kathmandu is Nepal's capital city. It is full of Hindu and Buddhist influences, making it one of the most religious areas in the world. The area also includes a World Heritage Site and some of the oldest temples in Asia.
This city sits at an elevation of 1400 m, making it a popular gateway to the Himalayas. In fact, hikers from all over the world arrive in the city before starting their trek up Mount Everest. It is also close to a number of ancient cities, including Patan.
While in the city, you can even book a flight in order to get a view of the Himalayas from the top. In other words, Kathmandu is a great choice for you if you enjoy adventure, hiking, and history.

There is a wide variety of places for you to visit while exploring the different parts of Asia. Mount Fuji, the Dead Sea, Siem Reap, and the Kingdom Of Bhutan are just a few of my favorites.
Asia is known for its rich culture, stunning landscapes, and bustling cities, making it an incredibly diverse continent.
